Dr. Dongming Xu is a conservation architect and interdisciplinary researcher affiliated with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), specializing in cultural heritage preservation. He obtained his doctorate from NTNU in 2018 with the dissertation, “A Multi-Perspective Observation of Site Museums”, which advances a transdisciplinary approach to the study of archaeological site museums. Dr. Xu has extensive professional experience in China (1996–2008; 2018–2022), working on numerous conservation projects involving nationally listed and UNESCO World Heritage sites. His work spans master planning for urban and rural heritage site preservation, landscape enhancement design of heritage sites, assessment and rehabilitation of historic buildings and districts, and the design of on-site exhibitions. He is also the “Conservation Dialogue” columnist for the Community Design Journal (Tsinghua University).
