Living Labs
Go2CHANGE will select 4 Urban Living Heritage Cities that will be the Action’s case study for building a strong and engaged academic and innovation community with achieving tangible, visible, and measurable outcomes. The ULL case study acts as a cooperation platform for WG members, supporting joint contributions to climate risk management for ULL heritage grounded in their shared expertise and capacities.

What is ULL?
The Urban Living Labs Working Group (WG5) will establish and coordinate four Urban Living Labs (ULLs) in four cities, each serving as a case study and a real-world testing environment. These ULLs will provide experimental, place-based platforms to integrate and apply the work of Working Groups 1–4, focusing respectively on:
-
The aim is to co-create, test and refine locally adaptable, people-centred climate action strategies for heritage places, while ensuring alignment with existing management frameworks, planning instruments and climate policies at the local, regional and national levels.
-
Each city will act as the primary ULL for one year, co-hosting activities in close collaboration with the Action Management Committee and the other WGs. This rotating structure ensures both context-specific engagement and cross-learning across different urban and heritage settings.
-
Each ULL will establish a core group, composed of WG5 representatives, the local city team, and relevant stakeholders from WGs 1–4. This group will coordinate activities, define thematic priorities, and ensure continuity across the different phases of the work plan.
-
Cities are encouraged to define a local thematic focus tailored to their specific needs, under which the cross-cutting work of WGs 1–4 will be applied.
