Lucyna Nyka (PhD, DSc) is a full professor in the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology (Gdańsk Tech). She served as Dean of the Faculty from 2016 to 2024 and since 2024 has chaired the Scientific Board for the research discipline of Architecture and Urban Planning. Since 2023 she represents this discipline on Poland’s Council of Research Excellence. Her research addresses adaptation of urban areas to climate change, nature‑based solutions, historical hydrographies and water‑related polder landscapes. She has contributed as author, co‑author and expert to numerous European research and cultural projects on urban resilience, heritage and climate change. With her team, she investigates the application of digital tools, automation technologies, and remote sensing to the design and distribution of nature‑based solutions for flood‑risk mitigation.
