Dr. Matthias Ripp is the World Heritage Coordinator for the City of Regensburg, where he leads the world heritage management unit of the UNESCO World Heritage property “Old Town of Regensburg with Stadtamhof.” His work focuses on integrating heritage protection with urban resilience, climate adaptation, and participatory governance. He serves as Regional Coordinator for the Northwest Europe and North America region of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), strengthening cooperation and exchange among World Heritage cities on two continents. He is an appointed member of the European Commission’s European Capital of Culture (ECOC) Expert Panel and an active ICOMOS member in CIVVIH (International Committee on Historic Towns and Villages) and ICAHM (International Scientific Committee on Archaeological Heritage Management). As an author and editor, he has contributed to numerous books and peer‑reviewed publications on cultural heritage, sustainable urban development, and resilience.
